Hello 2013 :)

I have to start by saying how excited we are about this semester. We’re planning some really great service and social events that we’ve never done before. Stay tuned for invites on Facebook as the semester goes on. But…GET EXCITED.

In November we welcomed our new members in style with our initiation party. Everyone looked amazing! Who’d have thought we cleaned up so well. Our photo booth was a great success; we ended up with literally hundreds of hillariously awesome pictures.

Last weekend we kicked of the semester with our Hollywood themed social. We had some really big names there, like Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen. Even Audrey Hepburn made the list (…a couple of times). Thank you to everyone who came out! It was great to catch up with everyone after the break and spend some quality time with our Tribe family. And since the food was such a success, we are thinking of having some at all of our upcoming socials. :P We appreciate everyone’s positive feedback, the event wouldn’t have been a success without ya. And congratulations to Beck and Casey, our winners of the Christopher Afshar award (our founder) for best dressed! Check out the Facebook Page for more photos.

We’re excited to see everyone again at our first potluck/meeting of 2013 this Saturday! We have a lot of things to fill you guys in on as we begin the semester. We also want to ask your feedback on a few items, so be sure to be there! We are going to try out themed menus at our potlucks this semester. This Saturday’s cuisine will be Mexican! We’ve already got some delish menu items on the Google Doc found in the info section of the event, please be sure to add what you plan on bringing if you haven’t already

See y’all tomorrow!

We are trying to finish interviews in the next week or so. If you haven’t been interviewed, we will be reaching out to you soon!
We’ve had some great events in the past month. Our second potluck of the semester was fall themed! Chris and Oliver made a fully functioning drink dispenser out of a pumpkin. Thank you Oliver for going on a mad hunt for a spigot!

There were some amazing dishes there – like Elise’s “slutty brownies” (a layer of chocolate chip cookie dough, a layer of Oreos, topped off with a layer of brownie) and Shelby’s corn casserole, recipe courtesy of Paula Deen.

We also volunteered at Inside Books, watched the Baylor game together at Joe’s apartment, volunteered at and participated in the Zombie Run, celebrated Halloween together, and took a trip to Mount Bonnell to watch the sun set.

Thank you to Taylor for hosting the Halloween social! Her apartment was decked out in Halloween decor, and she made treats for everyone. As you can see, we had costumes of all kinds – from scary to silly. Tiffany could be found creeping in pictures, as shown, and Joe only answered to “Jules” for the night. He made a beautiful girl that night, with great taste in jewelry. Seriously.

We have a couple service events coming up next week, so it should be easy for members to get any last hours they need!

Stay tuned for more details on our next social event!

New photos, service events, and social events!

Hey guys,

Last weekend we had a great time grilling (or skillet-ing, really…) before the UT/West Virgina game!

Thanks to everyone who came to hang out in their burnt orange (except Brandon, who came in blue plaid…we still love you though) before heading over to the game. For those of you that couldn’t go to the game this time – stay tuned and watch out for tickets in our seating group that aren’t being used! Unfortunately there are usually people that can’t go, but fortunately we are all about passing along tickets so that other Tribe members can come to a game with us.

Last Sunday we picnicked and played volleyball at Zilker Park!

Speaking of Zilker Park…this weekend a lot of us could be found hanging out at ACL. We had a great time, it was great to have so many Tribe members to spend the weekend with.

On Thursday we we went back to Inside Books. We have had really good turn outs our last two visits, so thank you Tribe members and Tribelets for giving back to the community with us. It’s greatly appreciated by many people, and really makes a difference.

Check out the gallery or the latest albums on the Tribe Facebook page for more pictures of these past two week’s festivities :)

We’ve got some other events coming up:
Tuesday, October 16th: Tribe IM soccer game
Friday, October 19th
Fall Potluck (we will also discuss the latest Tribe news, so be sure to come!)
Saturday, October 27th: Zombie Run
The Zombie Run will be our biggest service event of the semester, and a really fun way to complete a lot of your service hours. We are also giving an extra hour to people that offer to drive. See the Facebook event for details!

See y’all soon!
